Es erstaunt nicht, zu hören, wenn ein Komponist und Musiker auf die feinen Töne hört, wenn er ein Gespür für feine Worte besitzt und ein Faible für Gedichte hat. Olli Piippo, 1980 in Helsinki, Finnland geboren, studierte nicht nur Musik, sondern auch Malerei an der Academy of Fine Arts in Helsinki und an der Universität der Künste bei Leiko Ikemura in Berlin.

Für die für diese Ausstellung ausgewählten Arbeiten war das geschriebene Wort die Inspiration für Olli Piippo; in Form von „Twenty love poems and a song of despair“, einer Gedichtsammlung von Pablo Neruda. Dieser war ein chilenischer Schriftsteller und Dichter, der 1971 den Nobelpreis für Literatur erhielt und sich in Chile und Spanien vor allem gegen den Faschismus einsetzte. Das Gedicht „Leaning into the afternoons“ ist voll von Liebe, Sehnsucht, Einsamkeit und Gefühl.

Olli Piippo spricht vom „Gebrauch der richtigen Worte in der richtigen Reihenfolge“ und von „sanfter Einfachheit“, von Klarheit und Romantik. Die Atmosphäre des Buches und insbesondere dieses einen Gedichtes bannt er in seinen neuen Arbeiten auf die Leinwand: „Die Vögel der Nacht picken die ersten Sterne, was genauso aufblitzt wie meine Seele, wenn ich dich liebe. Die Nacht galoppiert auf ihren schattigen Alpträumen, blaue Quasten über das Land vergießend.“

Olli Piippo erzählt dem Betrachter nicht die gesamte Geschichte, er lässt unbeantwortete Fragen offen im Raum stehen, bereitet eine Szenerie ohne Beginn und ohne Ende, ohne Handlung. Er bringt die Atmosphäre und das Gefühl von geschriebenen Worten auf die Leinwand und hinterlässt ein Gefühl von Sehnsucht und aufkeimendem Tatendrang beim Betrachter.

It is not surprising when a composer and musician hears the fine tones, if he or she has a sense for words and has a soft spot for poems. Olli Piippo, born 1980 in Helsinki, Finland, studied not only music, but also painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Helsinki and the University of the Arts at Leiko Ikemura in Berlin.

For the works selected for this exhibition, the written word was the inspiration for Olli Piippo. „Twenty love poems and a song of despair“, a poem collection by Pablo Neruda. Neruda was a Chilean writer and poet, who received the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1971, and who worked against fascism in Chile and Spain. The poem „Leaning into the afternoons“ is full of love, longing, loneliness and feeling.

Olli Piippo speaks of „using the right words in the right order“ and of „gentle simplicity“, of clarity and romance. The atmosphere of the book and, in particular, of this one poem, he bans on the canvas in his new works:
„The birds of night peck at the first stars that flash like my soul when I love you. The night gallops on its shadowy mare shedding blues tassels over the land.“

Olli Piippo does not tell the viewer the entire story, leaves questions unanswered, prepares a scene without beginning and without end, without story-line. He brings the atmosphere and the feeling of written words onto the canvas and leaves a feeling of longing and burgeoning action to the viewer.
